‘Sweet treats for the mind’“Newcastle author Megan Hills has just published her second book, Cookie Jar.
This collection of fun, contemporary short stories takes readers through the challenges of life, love and art in Australia, ending with a big, delicious bite of New York City. The stories range from a wheelchair-bound artist preyed on by a stalker and a young taxi driver breaking the law daily for mysterious reasons, a glass artist’s marriage at breaking point to a journalist investing in a business that destroys the relationships of everyone he loves. Make yourself a cuppa and dive into this jar of thoughtful, entertaining literary treats.
When Megan isn’t writing fiction, she runs The Creative Ingredient, a creative and cultural consultancy working with artists and First Nations knowledge holders. Last year, she published her first novel, Pavlova Rising. To buy Megan’s books, head to Betty Loves Books at The Station in Newcastle or go to amazon.com.au.”

‘With a sly sense of humour’“Megan Hills, the brain and all-around dynamic force behind creative and cultural consultancy The Creative Ingredient has just published her first novel, Pavlova Rising.
Make yourself a hot cuppa and curl up on the couch for this fresh and intriguing page turner. It follows the journey of brilliant art history student Anna as she tries to solve the mystery of four suspected fake Aboriginal paintings. Forced to abandon her dream internship in London, Anna is being dragged out of her comfort zone into one completely foreign: her very own country. Enjoy this carbs-and-sugar art mystery that will have you salivating from the start.”

Author talk: Megan Hills
Okay, so it’s not exactly the cover of Times Magazine, but this is my childhood stomping ground, and having Council support my little publishing endeavours warms my cockles. The event was fun too. Thanks to Julie Squires for being my interrogator. It would have been lonely up there on my own (under the billboard of me and the book cover – gosh!).
